Who We Are


Beam River CLT is incorporated as a Community Benefit Society registered with the Financial Conducts Authority (FCA). This legal structure means that any benefits, such as assets, grants and/or subsidised land, will be protected in perpetuity for the benefit of the community through the CLT as a legal framework.

Beam River is a community land trust (CLT) registered with the Financial Conducts Authority (FCA) as a Community Benefit Society (CBS).

As a CLT with a CBS status, this legal structure has the following key characteristic features:


  • Open membership.
  • One member one vote.
  • Flexibility of trading.
  • Members representation on the board.
  • Raise share capital at affordable cost.
  • Legally enforceable ASSET LOCK – this clause is central to our existence as it protects assets for the benefit of the community in PERPETUITY.
  • Profits are not shared with members rather they are REINVESTED for the growth and development of the CLT.
  • We are not a cooperative society as members don’t share the profit of the CLT.
  • We are regulated by the Financial Conducts Authority as a Community Benefit Society.

 

We wish to support the growth and development of our members through training, skills and capacity building opportunities, employability and entrepreneurship development programmes.
